The 180-Day Rule: Why Real Hair Growth Takes Time (And How to Stay the Course)

You are six weeks into your new routine.

You started taking your KiriGlow™ capsules with real hope. You committed to your KiriCare™ routine. You are drinking more water, looking after yourself and doing your best to stay consistent.

Then you look in the mirror or run your fingers through your hair and wonder whether anything is happening.

This is the point when many people feel tempted to stop. It is also why we created the 180-Day Rule.

Hair follows a slow biological cycle. Meaningful changes rarely happen overnight, and what is taking place beneath the scalp may not be visible for several months. Understanding that timeline helps you set realistic expectations, notice the smaller signs of progress and give your routine a fair chance.

The 180-Day Rule is simple: stay consistent for six months before deciding whether your hair wellness routine is right for you.

Why hair takes time

Every hair grows from a follicle beneath the scalp, and every follicle moves independently through its own growth cycle. The human scalp generally contains around 100,000 to 150,000 follicles, most of which are actively growing at any given time.

That cycle includes four main phases:

  • Anagen, the growth phase: The follicle actively produces a hair strand. This phase can last several years.

  • Catagen, the transition phase: Growth slows and the follicle begins to shrink.

  • Telogen, the resting phase: The hair remains in place while the follicle rests.

  • Exogen, the shedding phase: The resting hair releases as the follicle prepares for its next cycle.

Scalp hair grows at approximately one centimetre per month. Even when positive changes are taking place at the root, it takes time for enough new length to emerge and become noticeable in the mirror.

This is why 180 days matters. Six months gives you a much more meaningful window in which to assess gradual changes than six weeks or even three months.

Shedding can have a delay

One of the most confusing things about hair loss is that what you see today may relate to something that happened months ago.

Telogen effluvium is a form of diffuse shedding that can follow physical illness, emotional stress, childbirth, rapid weight change, nutritional deficiency, medication changes or other disruptions. Shedding often begins two to three months after the original trigger, not immediately.

This delay can make it difficult to identify the cause. It also means that starting a new routine does not necessarily stop existing shedding straight away.

Importantly, increased shedding should not automatically be treated as proof that a supplement or product is working. If your hair loss becomes sudden, severe, patchy, painful or continues without improvement, speak with your GP or a dermatologist so they can investigate the underlying cause. Different forms of hair loss require different approaches.

Your 180-day journey

Everyone’s hair journey is different. These stages are a guide to what you might notice while using the complete Kiri10™ four-step system consistently, not a promise of individual results.

Days 1 to 30

The Foundation Stage

Your new routine begins.

KiriGlow™ provides Functional Keratin™, Hydrolysed Marine Collagen, OptiMSM™, Biotin, Zinc and Copper to support hair health from within. At the same time, the KiriCare™ Trio begins caring for your scalp and existing strands from the outside.

During this stage, the most noticeable changes may come from your haircare routine. Your hair may begin to feel softer, smoother or more manageable, with improved shine and less visible frizz.

Visible new growth is unlikely to be obvious yet. Right now, your most important job is simply to build the habit and stay consistent.

Days 31 to 90

The Strengthening Stage

This is often the quietest part of the journey.

You may begin noticing less hair in your brush or shower, reduced breakage or strands that feel stronger and more resilient. Others may notice very little at this point, and that does not necessarily mean their routine is failing.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 65 women aged 45 to 60 with stressed or damaged hair, the Functional Keratin™ ingredient used in KiriGlow™ was associated with a 43.1% reduction in hair loss measured by a hair-pull test after 60 days. This finding relates to the studied ingredient and should not be presented as a guaranteed result from the finished KiriGlow™ formula.

Do not judge your progress from one wash day or one glance in the mirror. Look for patterns over time.

Days 91 to 180

The Visible Progress Stage

For some people, this is when progress becomes easier to see.

You may begin noticing fine baby hairs around the hairline or parting, less daily shedding, thicker-feeling strands or a gradual improvement in the appearance of density. Hair may also look smoother and healthier as the KiriCare™ Trio continues supporting the condition of your existing strands.

Because hair grows slowly, even a positive change at the follicle takes time to produce enough visible length. Some people notice progress earlier, while others need longer than six months, particularly when hormones, stress, health conditions or longstanding nutritional factors are involved.

This is where your baseline photos become valuable. Small changes that are difficult to recognise day to day may be clearer when you compare month one with month six.

Day 180 and beyond

The Momentum Stage

Reaching 180 days is not the end of your hair journey. It is the point at which you have given your routine a more realistic period to work alongside your natural hair cycle.

If you are seeing progress, continuing consistently gives that progress time to build. If you have seen no improvement, or your shedding has become worse, this is also a good time to review your routine and speak with a healthcare professional about possible underlying factors.

Hair wellness is rarely a quick fix. It is an ongoing commitment to caring for your hair, scalp and overall wellbeing with patience and realistic expectations.

How to track progress

Take consistent photos

Your reflection changes gradually, which makes progress difficult to judge from memory.

Photograph your hairline, parting, crown and sides:

  • Use the same room and lighting.

  • Keep the same hairstyle and parting.

  • Hold the camera at the same distance and angle.

  • Take photos at the beginning and once every month.

  • Avoid fibres, root sprays or freshly applied oils before taking them.

Store your photos in a dedicated album so you can compare your starting point with days 30, 90 and 180.

Track patterns, not strands

Counting individual shed hairs can quickly become stressful and may not give you reliable information. Instead, record broader observations once a week:

  • Is there more or less hair in the shower?

  • Does your brush look different?

  • Is your parting changing?

  • Are you noticing breakage or full-length shed hairs?

  • How does your hair feel during styling?

A short monthly note can help you identify gradual trends without making hair tracking part of every day.

Notice condition too

New growth is not the only meaningful sign of progress.

Pay attention to softness, shine, manageability, breakage and how your scalp feels. These changes may appear before visible differences in length or density, particularly when you are using the complete inside-out system.

Keep the routine simple

Take two KiriGlow™ capsules daily as directed and connect them with an existing habit, such as breakfast or your morning glass of water.

Treat your KiriCare™ wash routine as a regular moment of care rather than something you have to perform perfectly. Consistency matters more than creating an elaborate routine that becomes difficult to maintain.

Inside and outside support

The complete Kiri10™ system approaches hair wellness in two distinct ways.

From within

KiriGlow™ contains Functional Keratin™, Hydrolysed Marine Collagen, OptiMSM™, Biotin, Zinc and Copper. It is designed to provide nutritional support for hair, skin and nail health as part of your daily routine.

Functional Keratin™ is the patented keratin ingredient in KiriGlow™. It should be described separately from the Triple-Keratin Complex™ used in KiriCare™.

From the outside

The KiriCare™ Shampoo, Conditioner and Serum feature the Triple-Keratin Complex™, combining three forms of keratin to support different areas of the existing hair fibre.

Together, the KiriCare™ products help cleanse, condition, smooth and protect your existing hair. This external care is particularly important because retaining length depends not only on growing hair, but also on looking after the strands you already have.

Why the guarantee is 180 days

The Kiri10™ 180-Day Growth Guarantee reflects the time hair needs, not an overnight promise.

Some customers notice changes earlier. Others need six months or longer. The guarantee gives eligible customers the opportunity to follow the recommended routine consistently before assessing their experience.

It does not mean that everyone will achieve the same result by day 180. Individual results vary, and the guarantee is subject to eligibility requirements and full terms and conditions. Link directly to your current refund policy wherever the guarantee appears.

If you are still within your first 90 days and wondering whether it is too soon to judge, the honest answer is usually yes.

Stay consistent. Track your journey. Give your hair time.

Hi Natalie
I’ve just read about DHT Blockers.
Do you think it (capsules) would be useful to take as a part of my hair regrowth journey?

Kind regards -

FAQ's

  • How long does it really take for hair supplements to work?

Most women see a meaningful reduction in shedding between weeks 4 and 8, with visible improvements in texture and strength emerging around weeks 8 to 12. Visible density gains, new baby hairs and a fuller ponytail are most commonly reported between three and six months. Some women see results earlier. Those with more complex hormonal or nutritional factors may need six months or more.

  • Why is my hair still shedding after starting KiriGlow™

An initial period of slightly increased shedding in the first four to eight weeks is a recognised pattern that can happen when follicles are transitioning or when older weaker hairs are making way for a new cycle. This is temporary. If heavy shedding continues beyond three months, speak to your GP to rule out an underlying cause like thyroid issues or iron deficiency.

  • Can I speed up hair growth with supplements

Supplements do not override your genetic growth rate (approximately one to one and a half centimetres per month), but they can support follicles to stay in the active growth phase longer, reduce premature shedding and improve hair fibre quality and strength. The goal is not faster growth but healthier, more consistent growth.

  • When should I take before and after photos

Take your baseline photo before you start (or right now if you have not already). Repeat at months one, two, three and six. Always use consistent lighting, the same angle and clean hair with no heavy product applied. Monthly photos are the most reliable way to track progress because your mirror will not show gradual change clearly.

  • What is telogen effluvium and can supplements make it worse

Telogen effluvium is a temporary form of diffuse hair shedding triggered by stress, illness, hormonal shifts, rapid weight changes or nutritional gaps. Supplements do not typically cause or worsen telogen effluvium, but if your body is already in a shedding cycle when you start, you may notice shedding continuing for a few more weeks before it improves. In 95 percent of cases, acute telogen effluvium resolves within six months.

  • Is it worth taking KiriGlow™ for 6 months if I cannot afford to stop and start

Yes, and consistency is actually the most important variable. Hair biology responds to sustained nutritional support over months, not intermittent doses. If budget is a concern, a single bottle at a time still adds up to a consistent protocol. Our bundles are also priced to make a 3 or 6-month commitment more affordable per capsule than buying individually.

  • What is a ponytail measurement and why does it help

A ponytail measurement is simply wrapping a soft tape measure around your ponytail at the same point each month. Even a two to three millimetre increase over three months is meaningful evidence of improved density, especially if your hair length has not changed much. It removes the subjectivity of "does it look better" and gives you a number to track.

  • My friend saw results faster than me, why

Each woman's timeline depends on the length and depth of depletion before starting, current hormonal and health status, how consistently the routine is maintained, the health of her gut (which affects how well nutrients are absorbed), and genetic factors including individual anagen phase duration. Comparing timelines between women is like comparing how long it takes two different gardens to bloom. The conditions are never identical.

  • Does the KiriCare™ range help or is it just the capsules that matter

Both matter and they work better together. The capsules build stronger hair from the inside. KiriCare™ protects what is being grown on the outside, reducing breakage from washing, styling and heat so you lose less of the new growth as it comes through. Think of it as growing the plant and protecting it from the weather at the same time.kiri10

  • What does Kiri10's 180-day guarantee actually mean

The 180-day guarantee means that if you use the Kiri10 system consistently for six months and do not see results, Kiri10 stands behind that honestly. It exists because the science is clear that six months is the minimum timeframe to fairly evaluate whether a hair supplement is working for your biology. It is a biology-based commitment, not a marketing promise.
